Jesus Heals Our Emotional Wounds

Luke 4:18 says, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed…”

We need to EXPOSE, bring to the light of the Holy Spirit, our emotional injuries. We will not experience healing until we openly identify the woundedness. As long as we hide these injuries, we will NOT get emotionally well. As long as we keep these injuries hidden, they will continue to foster and fester in our souls!

Psalm 139:1-7 says, “O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. You go before me and follow me…I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!”

How Does This Happen?

By The Power Of Corporate Prayer

Matthew 18:19-20, “When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.”

By The Power Of God’s Word

Hebrews 4:12-13, “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.”

By The Transforming Power Of The Holy Spirit

John 14:15-17, “If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive him because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you do, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.”

REFOCUS on your FUTURE! If we want to be emotionally healthy, we need to get our attention off our past, live in the present, and look forward to the future! Looking at our past is like trying to walk forward while looking backward is hard to do.

Job 11:13-16, “(1) If only you would prepare your heart and (2) lift up your hands to him in prayer! (3) Get rid of your sins, and leave all iniquity behind you. Then your face will brighten with innocence. You will be strong and free of fear. You will forget your misery; it will be like water flowing away.”

The Bible says (1 John 1:9) that God will forgive us if we confess our sins. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins…

The Way To Emotional Healing Is Through Forgiveness!

1 John 2:1-2 says, “My dear children, I write this to you so that you do not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”

We Need To RELEASE Those Who Have Hurt Us!

Ephesians 4:31-32, “Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”

What Do We Need To Do To Experience RELEASE From Our Injuries?

• We must face our problems openly.
• We must face our responsibility
• We must genuinely decide that we want to be healed.
• We must be willing to forgive those involved in our past hurt(s) problems
• We must be willing to forgive ourselves.
• We must ask the Holy Spirit to help us gain insight/revelation into our hurts
• We must ask the Holy Spirit how to pray and be healed
