21 Days of Prayer & Fasting
Pastor Steve | Posted on |

Why pray and fast for twenty-one days? So, we can see “break-through” and “break-out” of the pandemic weariness. We have been worn down and overwhelmed by COVID 19 for over two years. We are afraid. We are angry. We have been humbled. And we are traumatized. We now face a mental health crisis. We are in a spiritual health crisis. We are in a physical health crisis. We have seen the best and worst in people. We have been separated and disengaged from each other for far too long. It is time to pray and fast together.
“So, whatever it takes, I will live in the fresh newness of life” (Philip. 3:11).
The only way I know how to break-through, and break-out is by praying and fasting. The Bible teaches us that prayer and fasting are necessary for change (Mark 9:29).
The New Year of 2022 is underway. February is our month to move forward together. We start by setting aside twenty-one days to pray and fast, February 7-27. The passage in Nehemiah 4:13-14 calls us to position ourselves strategically and to fight (pray and fast) together:
“Therefore, I positioned men behind the lower parts of the wall, at the openings; and I set the people according to their families, with their swords, spears, and bows. And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles, to the leaders, and to the rest of the people, Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”
How do we fight (pray and fast)? What do we fight against?
Ephesians 6:10-12 says, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Here are the details:
- Starting: Monday, February 7th; ending: Sunday, February 27th
- Three All Church Prayer Meetings, 6:30-7:30 p.m., on Wednesdays February 9th, 16th, 23rd in person and on Zoom
- Fasting days: choose at least one day a week to fast.
- Prayer: We have twenty-one prayer devotionals and topics to guide us.
Would you think and pray about committing to twenty-one days of prayer and fasting? We are putting it together, and all we need is YOU! More information and resources will be coming in the next few days.
Together. Praying and Fasting.
