DAY 13 - THE POWER OF WORDS
Jesus’ death and resurrection opened the door to eternal relationship with the Living God. It is with our words—not just our beliefs—that we walk through it. What a privilege and joy to accept this fact in our heart and confess with our mouth, He is Lord!
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. .
ROMANS 10:9 (ESV)
OUR DEVOTIONAL
Do you see the word “and”?
I find it so interesting. It’s not enough to believe it, we must confess it. God wants our friendship and partnership, so He gave us a “to do.” He said believe and confess. The out-loud confession makes faith come alive and ignites our hearts to fully believe for more.
The Bible says faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). The mind is fully engaged and doesn’t wander when we speak out loud. The more we do this, the more strengthened we become. The confession of our mouths comes from the heart (Matthew 12:24). When we pray out loud and read the Word out loud, it aligns our thoughts so our minds don’t wander. We can absorb the things of God more fully when we are engaged through our senses.
The more we spend time in God’s presence with understanding by the power of God, we can believe for more in our lives. We do have to live in the world, but when we speak the Word, pray the Word, and believe the Word, we are transformed to understand our role here and obey God quickly. The message of the cross is not foolishness to us who are being saved (1 Corinthians 1:18). It is a launching point into a lifelong relationship that results in eternal life when we see Jesus face to face and our salvation is complete. What a glorious truth!
Oh that everyone could grasp this special gift of this simple message and know the wonder of God’s grace! He is so good, He has made a way for us to thrive, we have assurance that we are children of the Most High God! Believe it in your heart, confess it with your mouth, and know the amazing salvation of Jesus.
FAMILY MOMENT
Review the resurrection of Jesus. Take turns sharing how you came to Jesus Christ. Share two wonderful experiences that you have had since coming to Jesus. Each person set a goal to share your faith with one other person outside of the family unit.
PRAYER & REFLECTION
- How did you come to accept and know Jesus as Lord?
- Have you shared your testimony with anyone lately and what was your experience?
- How do you know that you are saved?
Pray something like this out loud: Lord Jesus, I believe that you were raised from the dead by God’s power. I confess with my mouth that I am saved by Your grace through the finished work of the cross. I thank you that this simple word brings new revelation in my spirit. I ask Your forgiveness for not being bold in confessing my salvation. I pray for a new invigoration and joy as I share moving forward. Thank You for the grace and thank you for the boldness to share my faith with others. In Jesus Name, amen!
