WHAT JOY!
Bible Text: Psalm 32:1-11 | Preacher: Pastor Steve | Series: The Psalms of Summer
Forgiveness Releases Joy
Psalm 32:1-2 Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!
Forgiveness Is Freedom
John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed
Forgiveness Is Mandatory
Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Forgiveness Is A Miracle
Psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgression from us.
Forgiveness is a PROCESS and DISCIPLINE that has a starting place, middle and finish!
Romans 4:1-8 Abraham was, humanly speaking, the founder of our Jewish nation. What did he discover about being made right with God? If his good deeds had made him acceptable to God, he would have had something to boast about. But that was not God’s way. For the Scriptures tell us, Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith. When people work, their wages are not a gift, but something they have earned.
But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners. David also spoke of this when he described the happiness of those who are declared righteous without working for it: Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sins are put out of sight. Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of sin.
Our Unforgiveness Devastates
Psalm 32:3-5 When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, I will confess my rebellion to the Lord. And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Selah

There Is Healing From Our Past Woundedness, Resentment, Bitterness!
The key that unlocks the door of healing: Forgiveness.
Confess our sin
Repent from what we were doing
Renounce it or remove its legal right to have any place in your life and its power over us
Accept His forgiveness
1 John 1:5-10
Don’t look at me, Okay?
SIN brings on shame and embarrassment and drives us to RUN and HIDE
We heard your voice. We were afraid, so we hid. When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long…Then I acknowledged my sin to you and I no longer covered up my iniquity.

God Provides Protection and Direction
Psalm 32:6-9 Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment. For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. The Lord says, I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.
Worship is the result of our real genuine personal relationship with our LORD Jesus:
Psalm 32:10-11 Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the Lord. So rejoice in the Lord and be glad, all you who obey him! Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!
