Remember that the decision to become a follower of Jesus is also a decision to INTENTIONALLY get involved with people.
The BIG problem with the Church of 2014 is that the world sees us KNOWING more than they SEE us as CARING!
LOVE people in front of Jesus, and LOVE Jesus in front of people.
Two things that will blow up our mission is our need for: Convenience and Comfort
Luke 10:29-37 The man wanted to justify his actions, so he asked Jesus, and who is my neighbor?  Jesus replied with a story: A Jewish man was traveling on a trip from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he was attacked by bandits. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him up, and left him half dead beside the road.
By chance a priest came along. But when he saw the man lying there, he crossed to the other side of the road and passed him by.
A Temple assistant walked over and looked at him lying there, but he also passed by on the other side.
Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him.  Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him. The next day he handed the innkeeper two silver coins, telling him, take care of this man. If his bill runs higher than this, I’ll pay you the next time I’m here.
Now which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by bandits? Jesus asked.
The man replied, the one who showed him mercy. Then Jesus said, yes, now go and do the same.
Our neighbor is anyone whose need you see and whose need you’re in a position to meet.
A life principle: Who I am DETERMINES what I see.
Our perspective in life depends upon what kind of life we have inside us!
Christian love is not objective. Christian love is subjective.
Christian love does not reside in the person being loved. It resides in the person DOING the loving.
It is our busyness and selfishness that are the greatest hindrances to our mission in our Jerusalem.
TRANSFORMED SERVING is intentional, and it understands the calling and purpose God has for us.
Philippians 2:12-13 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
Ephesians 4:23-24 Let the spirit change your way of thinking, and make you into a new person.
