Stewardship – Evaluations and Priorities
Bible Text: Matthew 6:33 | Preacher: Pastor Ken
Matthew 6:31-33 31″Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Matthew 14:23 23And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray.
Luke 5:16 16So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.
Luke 9:28 28Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
Luke 6:12-13 12Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. 13And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles:
Acts 10:9 9The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.
Matthew 10:37-39 37He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me… 38And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me…
Matthew 15:3-4 3He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’
Ecclesiastes 9:10 10Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
Colossians 3:19-24 19Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. 20Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. 21Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
22Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. 23And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
Matthew 6:19-21, 24 19″Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also…
24″No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
James 2:14-17 14What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
We need to make our relationship with Jesus a priority, not a luxury.
Matthew 6:33 33But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
