Our Spiritual Health, Part 2
Bible Text: 2 Corinthians 5:17 | Preacher: Pastor Steve | Series: Transformed
LIFE EQUATIONS REVIEWED
The word of God has conditional statements or premises that lead to a promise (IF…THEN statements)
Every promise has a premise!
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, (then) he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Transformed Living Loves Other Believers
Spiritual health requires us to learn to love other believers!
John 13:35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.
1 John 4:20-21 If someone says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.
Spiritual growth happens in community!
We cannot be spiritually healthy apart from the church.
Isolation always hinders our growth!
Luke 5:31-32 Jesus answered them, Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.
Our relationship with Jesus means we get involved with people!

Transformed living serves! We must serve others unselfishly
Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.
The two primary purposes of life after worship to the Lord:
To SERVE and GIVE like Jesus
Transformed living passes on the message of Jesus to others. We must pass on the Good News!
2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Transformed Living has the Holy Spirit functioning in our lives.
Spiritual health has the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives fully operational.
John 14:16-17 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.
Luke 24:44-49 Then he said, when I was with you before, I told you that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must be fulfilled. Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. And he said, Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day. It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent. You are witnesses of all these things. And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.
We have the most powerful force and strength available to mankind
POWER FROM ON HIGH!
Zechariah 4:6 Not by (our) might nor by (our) power but by my Spirit says the Lord Almighty
What does the Holy Spirit do for us:
The Holy Spirit helps us integrate & apply God’s truth to life
John 14:26 But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
The Holy Spirit builds our character through crisis!
Romans 5:3-5 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
The Holy Spirit enables us to be more like Jesus!
Galatians 5:22-23 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
The Holy Spirit equips us for ministry!
1 Corinthians 12:4-6 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.
The Holy Spirit of God comes to empower us for the work of God’s ministry.
Acts 1:8 …but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you…
John 7:38-9 Whoever believes in me as the Scripture has said, streams of LIVING WATER will flow from WITHIN him. By this he meant the SPIRIT whom those who believed in him were later to receive…
We are going to have to choose to spiritually grow.
