Spiritual Expectancy
Bible Text: Acts 3:1-10 | Preacher: Pastor Steve
Living In Spiritual Expectancy Brings:
God’s redemptive and resurrection power in our lives
Renews our hope and creates spiritual anticipation
Changes the outlook and focus of our life
Living Life With Spiritual “Expectancy” Rather Than In Spiritual “Desperation”
When We Live In Expectancy, Rather Than Expectation, We Are Open To The Person And Power Of Christ
Acts 3:1-10 …And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple; who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.” So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them–walking, leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God…
Church Attendance Is Critical
Expectancy means we position ourselves in the right place at the right time
We Have POWER And AUTHORITY In the Name Of Jesus!
John 16:23–24 Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
God Is Inviting Us To Live In Expectancy Rather Than With Expectations
Expectancy:
Romans 8:19-22 For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are…But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay.
Expectation:
Matthew 20:10-12 So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner…
Expecting things FROM Jesus causes a spiritual sleeping sickness, apathy, lethargy and disappointment.
The antidote of expectation is expectancy IN Jesus!
