Our Emotional Health

Pastor:
Passage: Psalm 147:3
Service Type:

Bible Text: Psalm 147:3 | Preacher: Pastor Steve | Series: Transformed Living
Jesus comes to HEAL our emotional wounds!
Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds
The Mission of Jesus
Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed…
Emotional Wounds are HEALED by the POWER of the Holy Spirit!
We need to REVEAL and bring to light our emotional injuries.
Psalm 139:1-7 O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. You go before me and follow me…I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!
The sad truth is that hurting people hurt people.
The BIG problem is that many of us stuff or swallow and ingest our emotional hurt.
The result is a stomachache, heartache, headache, and soul-ache!
Who is it that we need to be honest with?
Ourselves, by admitting the hurt
God, by confessing the hurt
Others, by sharing the hurt
Psalm 32:1-3 Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Finally, I confessed all my sins to you…
RELEASE those who have hurt us!
We cannot get emotional healthy as long as we are bitter, resentful, unforgiving.
Do we want to get well or get even?
Ephesians 4:31-32 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
If we want to get on with life, then we must forgive!
Holding onto hurt only prevents us from enjoying life and moving on in life!
Psalm 56:8 You have recorded my troubles. You have kept a list of my tears
Romans 12:17-19 Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, I will take revenge; I will pay them back, says the LORD.
The truth is that many us really DO NOT TRUST THE LORD to settle the score or to deal with those who have wronged us.  The core issue is that we DO NOT TRUST GOD!
We must face our problems, face our responsibility, and have an earnest desire to be healed.
1 Corinthians 3:13-15 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is…
We must be willing to forgive those involved in our past hurt(s) and problems. We must be willing to forgive ourselves.
Matthew 6:14-15 If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
We must ask the Holy Spirit to help us gain insight to our hurts and show us how to pray and be healed.
Romans 8:26-28 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
