God’s Mission
Exodus 6:2,6,7,8,29; I AM THE LORD and I WILL:
…bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians
…free you from being slaves to them…
…redeem you with an outstretched arm and mighty acts of judgment…
…take you as my own people…
…be your God…
…bring you to the land…
…give it to you as a possession…
The Passover story is remembered through a seder service using a Haggadah
The blood on the doorpost symbolizes the cross
We will Overcome by the Blood of the Lamb!
Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
The Devil’s Mission: Slavery
Goals of the enemy: (Exodus 1:13-16)
Stealing our soul: Life that has a sour taste to it v14: They made their lives bitter with hard labor…
Destroying our soul: to break apart, to be broken v14: ….the Egyptians used them ruthlessly.
Killing our soul: v16 … If the baby is a boy, kill….By the slaying of the male babies that would stop future generations creating hopelessness, broken-heartedness
John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
The mentality of someone held in bondage:
Beaten down
Feeling worthless
Loss of hope
Living in fear
Loss of self-confidence
The Power of Overcoming
Overcoming is abiding in the Lord and allowing our God to dramatically change our personal priorities; how we view ourselves, change our attitudes and our perception of self
God is dealing with our priorities (what is important): 11:5 Every firstborn son in Egypt will die…all the firstborn of the cattle as well.
God is dealing with our time/schedule (how we use our time): 12:2 This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year.
God is dealing with our possessions (what we do with what God has given us): 12:5 The animals you choose must be a male of the first year without defect.
God is dealing with our attitudes (how we think and feel): 12:12 On the same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn-both men and animal-and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord.
God is dealing with our hearts (the sin in our lives): 12:15 On the first day remove the yeast from your houses.
God is dealing with our control issues (submission to God): Exodus 13:1 The Lord said to Moses, Consecrate to me every firstborn male…whether man or animal.
Exodus 12:23 …and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down.
Lamentations 3:22-24 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness
Hebrews 3:7-15 That is why the Holy Spirit says, today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled, when they tested me in the wilderness. There your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw my miracles for forty years. So I was angry with them, and I said, their hearts always turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them. So in my anger I took an oath: They will never enter my place of rest.
Exodus 20:1-3 And God spoke all these words: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me.
John 1:29-30 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
Exodus 5:7-8 You are no longer to supply the people with straw for making bricks; let them go and gather their own straw. But require them to make the same number of bricks as before; don’t lower the quota.
Exodus 5:20-21 When they left Pharaoh, they found Moses and Aaron waiting to meet them and they said, May the Lord look upon you and judge you! You have made us a stench to Pharaoh and his officials and have put a sword in their hand to kill us.
ABIDING in the Lord and allowing our God to dramatically change our priorities!
ABIDING means WE ARE ALL IN!
1 Corinthians 5:7 For indeed Christ, our Passover was sacrificed for us.
PUT GOD FIRST!
God comes into our lives to undo the DISTORTION that we are valueless; unworthy; unimportant
Romans 5:7-11 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation…So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.
