Know that I am God

Pastor:
Passage: Psalm 46
Service Type:

Bible Text: Psalm 46 | Preacher: Pastor Steve | Series: The Psalms of Summer
GOD IS OUR REFUGE
Psalms 46: 1-3 God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.  Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!
GOD IS ALWAYS WITH US
Psalm 46:4-7 A river brings joy to the city of our God, the sacred home of the Most High. God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed. From the very break of day, God will protect it. The nations are in chaos, and their kingdoms crumble! God’s voice thunders, and the earth melts! The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.
THE LORD IS OUR FORTRESS
Psalm 46:8-11 Come, see the glorious works of the Lord: See how he brings destruction upon the world. He causes wars to end throughout the earth. He breaks the bow and snaps the spear; he burns the shields with fire. Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.
MAHSEN: FORTRESS: our SAFE PLACE
RAPHAH: BE STILL: TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF!
YADA: KNOWING: to know by observing, reflecting (thinking) and experiencing
Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God
KNOWING God means that we are STILL and that we TAKE OUR HANDS OFF and
let God handle it!
IF we are going to learn to TRUST God, THEN we need to spend time KNOWING God.
Eliminate the NOISE
In digital photographs, “noise” is the commonly used term to describe visual distortion.
What do we need to do in order to keep our heart fresh and alive spiritually? How can we find time to be with the Lord when we are so busy?
Our enemy is OUR HURRIED LIVES.
Any moment can be an opportunity to experience God’s love.
Learning to HOVER helps us see God in life around us!
We tend to move too fast, we are in too much of a hurry and we have too much to do!
Authentic transformation is possible if we are willing to let Jesus re-arrange our lives.
Learning to not be hurried or noisy with people, family or life is a discipline!
Spending alone time with God is essential to our spiritual health.
Prayer is learning to slow down and focus on Jesus rather than ourselves.
ASK the Lord to teach you how to pray!
Prayer involves being fully present with God and bringing to God what is on our hearts.
Prayer connects us with God’s heart!
Major roadblocks:
Sleeplessness
Distraction
Hurry
Busyness
Noise
