Handling Life’s Challenges

Pastor:
Passage: Luke 21:25-28

Bible Text: Luke 21:25-28 | Preacher: Pastor Steve
Luke 21:25-28 And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.
When life’s ratings are projected to not go well, what do we do?
Remember that God is ALWAYS in control
He is ALWAYS sovereign
What are the Biblical Viewpoints for the origin of bad things?
These events are the result of God’s sovereignty or by the direction of God.
These events are the result of a natural progression of creation and the result of living in a “fallen” world.
These events are the result of spiritual consequence of our own or that of others.
The Lord…makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust (Matthew 5:45)
Pray and Live Righteously
2 Chronicles 7:14 If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Prayer is Partnership with the Creator of the Universe
Revelation 1:5-6 To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen (Revelation 5:10; Exodus 19:3-6).
Be Community
Galatians 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens…
We are going to be the same today that we are going to be in five years from now, except for three things:
the people with whom we regularly hang out with,
the media we watch/listen to or the books we read, and
how we handle the crisis of life
Community is walking TOGETHER in Jesus
Trust in God
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Let Go and Let God
We admit we are powerless and that our lives are unmanageable.
We believe that the power of the Lord Jesus is greater than anything we have in ourselves that could restore us, renew us and refresh us!
We make a decision to turn our lives and our will over to the care of the Lord Jesus.
Job 11:13 Surrender your heart to God; Stretch out your hands to him..
My part is to trust, surrender, give up my life; God’s part is to catch, to hold, to do in me and for me what I can’t do for myself.
