The God Who Doesn't Throw Rocks
Bible Text: John 8:1-11 | Preacher: Guest Speaker
The Power Of:
God’s commitment to you!
Superman
Protects those who need his help
Superman’s enemies see his compassion for people as a great “weakness” that they can take advantage of in order to set up a trap to kill him.
Read John, chapter 8, verses 1 – 11 in groups of 2 – 5 people.
This story in Jesus’ life is very similar. Jesus’ enemies discover he cares deeply for people and they see it as a weakness to exploit.
Imagine being stoned to death
This story is about throwing rocks at people. It’s about who is qualified to do so. imagine dying by being stoned to death
What is Jesus all about?
Jesus’ vulnerable spot in His armor— was His love & compassion for broken people who need & want His help!
Jesus says at least 4 very important things in this story
Whoever has NEVER sinned is qualified to throw rocks at those who have.
I have decided NOT TO THROW ROCKS at people.
I have decided not to reject or condemn you even though you’re guilty.
Stop living a lifestyle that will destroy your soul.
Jesus Rejects 2 Things & Accepts 1
✓ Jesus rejects arrogance.
✓ Jesus rejects a lifestyle that contradicts His instructions (Jesus wants you whole).
✓ Jesus accepts individuals who need & want His help.
Picture that morning from this woman’s viewpoint
Whatever the reason that you end up at the feet of Jesus just…STAY THERE!
It’s the best place you can find yourself!
Hold up your rock
Picture that morning from this woman’s viewpoint
Jesus is…
The God who doesn’t throw rocks
Not at us!
Not at you!
Not the guilty who need & want His help!
Not if you stay at His feet…
Jesus is…
The God who doesn’t throw rocks
The only person standing there who was actually qualified to throw rocks at this woman didn’t throw even ONE
Jesus is…
The God who doesn’t throw rocks
If you and I want to be like Jesus, we won’t throw rocks at each other either.
First of all, we aren’t qualified to do so.
And the only one who is qualified…isn’t throwing any!
